Faux Tan

I don't know about you but my days of laying in the sun and wrecking my skin are long gone. I prefer the "tan in the can" as I call it. Over the years I have tried many self tanning products but so far my favorite are tan towels. You can find these on HSN (home shopping network). Crazy I never shop on this but last year once while I was flipping through channels these were on some today's special value and thought I would try them. They also came with the lotion you can use in between using the towels. Well I love them so much I am now on auto-delivery. You can adjust the time you receive these to whatever you want. So far these are super easy, make a great tan and don't streak. It blends so nice and I never miss a spot. They even come with ones for the face and I love how it looks. I am so ghostly looking right now I decided to pull them out this week and give myself a little tan before our trip this weekend. Good bye Casper hello tan girl :-)

A little tour of the Outer Banks

Here are some pictures of our trip to the Outer Banks in April. We only got to go for an overnight stay since we had so many projects to do around our house but it was fun to get a little break. The weather was in the 60's and low 70's which was nice and it was a perfect time to go because it wasn't too busy.

We had stopped at the Currituck Lighthouse in Corolla, NC. It was a beautiful day. Corolla is such a pretty area. I told my husband we will definitely have to go back there.

If you are ever out visiting the Outer Banks you must stop at the Cotton Gin in Jarvisburg. Girls it is unbelievable. I know this picture looks like it is small but it is huge inside. There is a Cotton Gin in Corolla and Nags Head but this is the big store. I will say plan for several hours. This is not a quick stop. You need time in here. I would suggest dropping off the kids and the husband somewhere else and do this one with the girls or alone. They have such cute and unique gift items it is great.

Another stop was the Waterfront Shops located on Currituck Sound in Duck, NC. They have a Lilly store called "Life's a Beach." Need I say more.

This is in front of the Lilly store.

Check out the cute Adirondack chair with martini glasses. Love it! I had to have a picture.

Gorgeous day in Kitty Hawk.

We made a stop at the Wright Brothers Museum in Kill Devil Hills (I know what a strange name for a town). This was a small museum but very fascinating. Good educational spot for kids.

There are markers outside that show the attempts at flight that Orville and Wilbur made.

My day as an astronaut (ha-ha)

Orville and Wilbur Wright.

There are replica's inside the museum of the planes they built.

The first day we got to the Outer Banks hubs brought a kite to fly on the beach. It was overcast but the wind was perfect for flying kites.

This is the Bodie Island Lighthouse

Me doing one of my favorite things which is looking for shells. It was a bit cool and super windy but that didn't stop me.

Hope you enjoyed the pictures. The Outer Banks is a fun vacation spot if you ever get the chance to go. Oh for all you scrapbooker's there is a store in Nags Head called Beach Memories where you can get all your beach/Outer Banks supplies. I found the cutest things.

It's a Hello Kitty Vacation

I don't know about you but I grew up with Hello Kitty. My older sister even worked at the Hello Kitty store we had at the mall in the town I grew up in. Hello Kitty has been around a long time I am kinda dating myself here. But look at this adorable HK hotel I found. It is in Taiwan. Now I don't know if I would want to travel to Taiwan but I wish they had this in the USA. Could you just die!! I love all that pink. Now I don't think I could get my husband to stay with me but my girlfriends (also HK lovers) and I would all love it. Wouldn't that be the best girlfriend weekend? Are there any one else out there that loved Hello Kitty as much as I did growing up?

Gotta love a cute rug!!

Hi all,
Today I had to return something to Kohl's and look at these cute rugs I found for the 4th of July. Even better I spotted the sign that said 3 days only $5.99 (regularly $15.99) so for that price I got one for the front door and one for the back door. I love them!! They are so cute. They were almost all gone I am glad I had stopped in.
Have a wonderful week.

Nights in Rodanthe

Have any of you seen the movie Nights in Rodanthe with Richard Gere and Diane Lane? Well since we also have a home in North Carolina we had to see this when it came out. So on our trip to the Outer Banks in April we stopped by Rodanthe, NC and had to find the house. O.K. the movie version looked so much nicer. As you can see from the pix it is pretty run down but it was fun to find it though.
Hope you all have a great weekend. We are off the Michigan to spend Father's Day with my dad.

We made it through the weekend!

It was a hard and sad weekend 2 funeral services and today the double burial. God held us all together amongst all our tears. The whole family was together to support each other and that helped a lot. I promise to have more upbeat posts in the future and to catch up with all your blogs again soon. It's been a long road and haven't had much time to blog.

Mother in law went to be with the Lord

Yesterday morning my mother in law went to be with the Lord on her 48th wedding anniversary. Everyone including the doctors couldn't believe she was holding on for 14 days on hospice but we all know now she was waiting to go and say happy anniversary to her husband. It has been a very sad week. My mother in laws brother passed away 4 days before her. We are having my mother in laws service Saturday, her brothers Sunday and since they are both being buried at the same cemetery we will be having double burials on Monday. I know this is so unbelievable we can't believe it is happening. My husband and I want to thank you all so much for all your kind words and prayers during this difficult time. If I could ask one more favor please keep my husband's grandmother in your prayers especially. She is 90 years old and has lost both of her children in the same week.

Thanks again,

Linda

Giveaway

Preppy Paper Girl is having a surprise giveaway. I almost missed it. Don't forget to sign up she is drawing a winner on Friday. http://preppypapergirl.blogspot.com/
Update on the mother in law---It is 7 days today that she has been on hospice. No change yet. She is still with us and we are spending every bit of time we can with her. It is a very hard time for my husband right now and I am just trying to be very supportive. I think the waiting and not knowing when she will pass is such a struggle. It has given the family the time to say everything they want to to her which will give everyone some sense of closure when God does take her home. Thanks again to you all for all your prayers we very much appreciate.
