Doctor appointment

We went to my 31 (almost 32) week appointment tonight and the doctor said I am measuring larger than I should be at the this time (yikes) so he is sending me for an ultrasound to check the size of the baby.   The hubs and I are actually happy about this so we can see the baby again.  After that 20 week appointment where we got to find out the sex of the baby they stop doing the ultrasounds so this will be good.  I have to call tomorrow and set this up.  It's a larger ultrasound than they do in their office.  I will be curious to see how big he is.  Since this is my first I don't know how things are supposed to feel but I feel like the baby is just huge in there.  Both my side of the family as well as my husbands are all pretty tall so I am wondering if little Kyle is going to be a tall little guy.  We will see.  Well off to lay down now.  The doctors office is in the hospital and he got called for an emergency so all his patients got backed up and we were there forever.
Hope you are having a good week.

Feeling better today

I decided to stay home today and just rest after yesterday.  We are very glad I have had no contractions today. I will plan to go back to work tomorrow.  It was a little scary.  I am at 30 weeks now but we hope to keep baby Kyle in until a little closer to my due date which is April 27th.  I love when I can stay home.  When I am laying down I feel great but sitting up like in my desk chair  at work all day gets pretty uncomfortable.  Little Kyle has found a little snuggly spot under my right rib cage and does not like to move from there :-)  If anyone has any suggestions on how to get the baby to move positions I could sure use them.

Home from the hospital

What a day this has been.  I went to work this morning not feeling real well since I was so tired but then about 9:00 am I started having abdominal pain.  I wasn't thinking contractions because it wasn't the kind of pain that would come and go but just a steady pain.  I thought it would go away but just got more uncomfortable as time went on.  Well I was trying to fight through it but after 2 hours my co-worker went and got 2 of our nurses.  Thank heavens I work in health care.  Well they said I need to call my husband and have him take me to the ER.  So the hubs was on his way and I called my doctor to let him know I was on my way to the hospital and he said the doctor on call will meet me there.  Once I got to the hospital they took me immediately to labor and delivery and hooked me up to all the monitors.  Well sure enough I was having contractions.  I wasn't dilated but definitely showing contractions on the print out.   Little Kyle's heartbeat was wonderful though thank heavens.  They drew lots of blood and took lots of tests and everything came back great.  I was still having contractions so at 2:00 pm the doctor ordered a shot of medicine that is supposed to stop the contractions.  Well the side effect is it also makes your heart race which the nurse warned me.  Once that started I got so sick and ended up throwing up 4 times.  I felt so bad after that.  Luckily about an hour and half later things were better and the contractions stopped.  The doctor eventually discharged me this evening.  I was soooooo hungry since they wouldn't let me eat anything and I am so glad to be home.  What a day.  I am exhausted as is my husband.  I think all the excitement completely stressed the poor guy out.

Hope you all had a better Monday than mine.  Well I am going back to resting.

Back from Class

We had another class at the hospital tonight called Breast Feeding Basics.  First of all the lecture hall at the hospital was packed.  We couldn't believe how many people were there. The class was 2 1/2 hours long but well worth it.  The instructor went over so much.  It will be so helpful.  We were both glad we went.  I feel like April 27th is coming at me fast and since this is our first it has been so nice that the hospital is offering all these classes.  We figure the more information the better.

On a side note thank the lord for anti- nausea medication.  I was feeling much better today.  Yeah!!!

A snow storm and an earthquake

We have gotten about 15 inches of snow in the last couple of days.  I know nothing like you all out east have gotten this year.  At least I didn't have to drive in it.  I have been home sick since last Friday. There has been a stomach bug going around work and yes now I got it.  I have been so sick. Haven't been able to keep anything down.  Hubs took me to the doctor yesterday and she put me on a baby monitor to check the baby and thank heavens the baby's heartbeat is great but she said I was having small contractions which she said is due to dehydration.  She gave me some antinausea medication and said if I wasn't feeling better in 36 hours she would have to send me to the hospital to get IV fluids.  I am home from work again today and luckily am feeling a bit better now that I have been taking the medication.  At least I can keep some fluids and food down.  It's been a crazy week.  I just hate being sick don't you all.
Well on to my earthquake news.  This morning I got up about 3:30 am to get some juice.  Well I couldn't go back to sleep so I layed on the couch and was watching some TV. Just before 4:00 am I felt the couch fibrating.  It was crazy.  It felt like a big truck drove by but I didn't hear any cars at all.  I didn't think much of it but when the local news came on at 5:30 am they were announcing that there was a 4.3 earthquake in northwest Illinois just before 4:00 am.  I knew that is what I had felt.  It was crazy.  My first earthquake.  Now it wasn't super strong so if I had been sleeping I wouldn't have even noticed but it was funny.  Not a common thing here in Illinois that is for sure.

Hope you all are having a great Wednesday.  Is everyone home due to the snow?

A little bit of spring

BRRRRRR!!  I am living in the frozen tundra.  Today's high for the day is supposed to be 14 degrees.  But instead of focusing on that I wanted to show you what I found last week at Walmart.  This cute pink and green outdoor rug.  And only $3.97!!!  I got one for the front door and one for the back.  Who doesn't want a little pink and green going in and out to cheer your day.  I will wait till the weather is a little warmer to put these out though.

Have a great Thursday!! I am off to brave the weather now and head to work.

Tour of the family birthing center

The hubs and I went for our class and tour of the family birthing center last night.  It was very informative.  They went over when to call the doctor, what door to come in at what times etc.  They even said in the 3rd trimester our doctors send our entire file over and they will already have all our information on the unit.  They seem quite organized.  The rooms are all private and you actually get to have the baby in the room that I will also stay in the next couple of days.  Well I should say unless a c-section is needed then they take you down the hall for that and bring you back.  But they bring in all the equipment to the room for the birth then after they will take it all out and bring in the twin bed for hubs to stay at the hospital with me.  It was nice to see everything and know what is going to be going on.  The hubs was very excited when the nurse announced they just got wi-fi installed now in the rooms.  I will see how it goes I may be able to post of picture of the baby once he is born.  Well no more classes this month.  Next month we have breast feeding basics, daddy boot camp and preparing for childbirth weekend workshop which is basically a lamaze workshop.  We figure the more information the better since this is our first.

Happy Tuesday :-)

I hope I haven't lost you all

Happy New Year everyone!! Sorry for my lack of posts.  Things have been crazy around here. The holidays were busy. We were just going and going. It was tiring but a lot of fun. Our plan this year was to spend Christmas eve with my hubs family and then drive to Michigan Christmas day to see my family. Unfortunately, we ended up staying in town since we got a big snow storm. Let me tell you the roads between Chicago and Michigan can get pretty bad so we didn't want to risk it this year with the baby nor did my family. We did spend Christmas Eve with the hubs family though and baby K made out like a bandit I have to say. Everyone was very generous. We appreciate it so much. I also have to share that after everyone got done opening presents my husbands aunt noticed another bag over by the tree. There were wrapped boxes in the bag with everyones name on it. Like To Kevin and Linda from Mom or to Debbie (hubs cousin) from dad. I don't know if you remember a previous post in the summer but my husbands mom and uncle both passed away 4 days apart. Well no one knew who the presents were from and no one there that night knew anything about them. Well here is what we all found when we opened them.

I had never seen these before but I thought they were very nice.  Everyone started sobbing.  It was pretty emotional but we all knew that was true.  They were both with Jesus this Christmas.

Well on to more happenings.  Since we were at home this Christmas we hit the day after Christmas sales.  Here were some of the cute things I found.

O.K. now that my old news is over. What have I been up to?  Well once I hit my 6 month mark I stopped getting sick.  Yeah!!!!  I am tired these days but I can take that.  After working all day and then having dinner I fall asleep on the couch every night.  My poor husband.  Luckily he understands.  I am at 27 weeks this week and little K is getting big.  I don't sleep much at night usually about an hour on my left side and then I get uncomfortable and switch to my right side. It's funny how your body kinda gets you ready for those every 2 hour feedings that are coming. Baby K is kickin up a storm now.  It just cracks me up how much he moves. I am loving every minute of it and am so happy that the hubs can feel him move to.  Just about 3 more months now.  We are so excited!!!!  We are starting to take some of the prep classes at the hospital to get ready.  It's been very helpful.  I have to say at some points though it's a little bit too much information. I think there are some things I had rather not known (tee-hee).  I'm a little panicked now.   We are taking a tour of the maternity ward tonight so we can see everything.  This will be nice.  They show you where to come in depending on the time of day or night and where you need to go from there and we get to see the rooms etc.

One of these days I hope to catch up with you all I promise.  With work and falling asleep  so early every night I have hardly been on the computer. Sorry.  I miss reading all your blogs.  Work has been so busy I had to work this weekend so I am off today.  Thank heavens but I have so much to catch up on and have several errands to run.  I need a few more days off but what can you do.

Hope you all have a great week.
