The baby is doing good

We were able to get in this morning for our ultrasound.  The baby looks great they said.  He is measuring a little bit bigger than normal but nothing to be concerned about.  He is in the 60th percentile and she said they are usually only concerned if the baby is in the 90th percentile.  They estimate he is 4 pounds 5 oz.  What appears to be making the belly so large is I am at the high end for my ambiotic fluid.  She said when they measure, normal is between 8cm and 22cm and I am at 20.  She will send all the results to my doctor.  I am not exactly sure if they do anything for this.  There is sometimes a risk with high ambiotic fluid levels that the baby is not swallowing but all was good there.  They just said the baby has an olympic size pool to swim in.  Boy I feel like I am carrying a pool around with me.  She even said "I bet you are having diffculty breathing and getting around more so than other pregnant women do because of the high fluid."   Boy is that for sure.  Luckily I am not swelling up anywhere else like my ankles or hands.  I am all belly.  I feel so blessed to be pregnant that as long as the baby is doing good I will manage with my pool :-)

Happy Thursday

Doctor appointment

We went to my 31 (almost 32) week appointment tonight and the doctor said I am measuring larger than I should be at the this time (yikes) so he is sending me for an ultrasound to check the size of the baby.   The hubs and I are actually happy about this so we can see the baby again.  After that 20 week appointment where we got to find out the sex of the baby they stop doing the ultrasounds so this will be good.  I have to call tomorrow and set this up.  It's a larger ultrasound than they do in their office.  I will be curious to see how big he is.  Since this is my first I don't know how things are supposed to feel but I feel like the baby is just huge in there.  Both my side of the family as well as my husbands are all pretty tall so I am wondering if little Kyle is going to be a tall little guy.  We will see.  Well off to lay down now.  The doctors office is in the hospital and he got called for an emergency so all his patients got backed up and we were there forever.
Hope you are having a good week.

Feeling better today

I decided to stay home today and just rest after yesterday.  We are very glad I have had no contractions today. I will plan to go back to work tomorrow.  It was a little scary.  I am at 30 weeks now but we hope to keep baby Kyle in until a little closer to my due date which is April 27th.  I love when I can stay home.  When I am laying down I feel great but sitting up like in my desk chair  at work all day gets pretty uncomfortable.  Little Kyle has found a little snuggly spot under my right rib cage and does not like to move from there :-)  If anyone has any suggestions on how to get the baby to move positions I could sure use them.

Home from the hospital

What a day this has been.  I went to work this morning not feeling real well since I was so tired but then about 9:00 am I started having abdominal pain.  I wasn't thinking contractions because it wasn't the kind of pain that would come and go but just a steady pain.  I thought it would go away but just got more uncomfortable as time went on.  Well I was trying to fight through it but after 2 hours my co-worker went and got 2 of our nurses.  Thank heavens I work in health care.  Well they said I need to call my husband and have him take me to the ER.  So the hubs was on his way and I called my doctor to let him know I was on my way to the hospital and he said the doctor on call will meet me there.  Once I got to the hospital they took me immediately to labor and delivery and hooked me up to all the monitors.  Well sure enough I was having contractions.  I wasn't dilated but definitely showing contractions on the print out.   Little Kyle's heartbeat was wonderful though thank heavens.  They drew lots of blood and took lots of tests and everything came back great.  I was still having contractions so at 2:00 pm the doctor ordered a shot of medicine that is supposed to stop the contractions.  Well the side effect is it also makes your heart race which the nurse warned me.  Once that started I got so sick and ended up throwing up 4 times.  I felt so bad after that.  Luckily about an hour and half later things were better and the contractions stopped.  The doctor eventually discharged me this evening.  I was soooooo hungry since they wouldn't let me eat anything and I am so glad to be home.  What a day.  I am exhausted as is my husband.  I think all the excitement completely stressed the poor guy out.

Hope you all had a better Monday than mine.  Well I am going back to resting.

Back from Class

We had another class at the hospital tonight called Breast Feeding Basics.  First of all the lecture hall at the hospital was packed.  We couldn't believe how many people were there. The class was 2 1/2 hours long but well worth it.  The instructor went over so much.  It will be so helpful.  We were both glad we went.  I feel like April 27th is coming at me fast and since this is our first it has been so nice that the hospital is offering all these classes.  We figure the more information the better.

On a side note thank the lord for anti- nausea medication.  I was feeling much better today.  Yeah!!!

A snow storm and an earthquake

We have gotten about 15 inches of snow in the last couple of days.  I know nothing like you all out east have gotten this year.  At least I didn't have to drive in it.  I have been home sick since last Friday. There has been a stomach bug going around work and yes now I got it.  I have been so sick. Haven't been able to keep anything down.  Hubs took me to the doctor yesterday and she put me on a baby monitor to check the baby and thank heavens the baby's heartbeat is great but she said I was having small contractions which she said is due to dehydration.  She gave me some antinausea medication and said if I wasn't feeling better in 36 hours she would have to send me to the hospital to get IV fluids.  I am home from work again today and luckily am feeling a bit better now that I have been taking the medication.  At least I can keep some fluids and food down.  It's been a crazy week.  I just hate being sick don't you all.
Well on to my earthquake news.  This morning I got up about 3:30 am to get some juice.  Well I couldn't go back to sleep so I layed on the couch and was watching some TV. Just before 4:00 am I felt the couch fibrating.  It was crazy.  It felt like a big truck drove by but I didn't hear any cars at all.  I didn't think much of it but when the local news came on at 5:30 am they were announcing that there was a 4.3 earthquake in northwest Illinois just before 4:00 am.  I knew that is what I had felt.  It was crazy.  My first earthquake.  Now it wasn't super strong so if I had been sleeping I wouldn't have even noticed but it was funny.  Not a common thing here in Illinois that is for sure.

Hope you all are having a great Wednesday.  Is everyone home due to the snow?
