No more bees please

Yesterday I had to run to my doctor appointment and when I stopped for gas look what I found.  Well this picture is without the bees thanks to the hubs.  So since it was swarming with bees I quickly closed the door.  Unfortunately I didn't have time to go back home and switch cars since it takes 20 minutes with no traffic to get to the doctors office.
Once I arrived at the doctors office and was getting out of my car look what else I found. It was another bee hive inside the drivers side door again swarming with bees. How I didn't see this when I was getting in I have no idea. Since I have been off on maternity leave I haven't really been using my car we have used my husbands so I guess the bees decided to make it their home. Luckily when I got home the hubs quickly took care of this problem.

Hope you are having a bee free day :-)

Nautical Lanterns

One of the not so joyful parts of summer.  BUGS!! We found some ants in our kitchen yesterday UGH!! So I ran to Walmart to get some ant traps.  I quickly forgot about the ants when I spotted these nautical lanterns. Only $5.  For that I had to get them.  I thought how cute would these be on tables or sitting around  for summer get togethers.  They also came in blue but I don't have much in blue around here so I opted not to get those.   Better Homes has a whole line now at Walmart.  They are trying to spruce things up around there I guess.

Do you all collect recipes?  I have found mine have gotten a little out of control and now can't find a recipe when I want to use it.  So today my mission is to organize those.  Since I was in Walmart I got 2 binders and some dividers and am going to try to organize some of our favorites.  I am making one binder for here and one for North Carolina.  Wish me luck.  This will probably make me so hungry today :-)

Oh I changed the background to this nautical one but it is a bit busy and the center is kind of narrow.   I am not sure if I will keep it or not.  I am going to give it a few days.  What do you think?

Hope you have a wonderful day. It is GORGEOUS here today.  It looks like we are going to have great weather all week too.  We have had so much rain I am so ready for some sunshine.

2 months old

Our little guy is 2 months old today. I can't believe 2 months have gone by already. He is getting so big.  I think he was getting tired of his mom taking so many pictures :-)  He was making so many cute expressions I couldn't help myself. Hope you all are having a great weekend.

Summer thirst quencher

Have any of you tried the limeade sparklers from Taco Bell?  The hubs and I tried the cherry limeade the other day.  It is sooooooo good.  Perfect for the hot days of summer.  We never go to taco bell but there was a coupon in the paper a few days ago.  I LOVE cherry limeade so when I saw it I said we need to try it.  You can also get a coupon for a free one here

Hope you all are staying cool.  I can't believe it is already Thursday.  The week has flown by. Haven't gotten much done.  I guess just busy with baby stuff.

Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day!!  I hope you dad's are having a wonderful day.  I spoke with my dad today and found out they are still without power.  We had big storms Friday and after hitting us they headed over to Michigan and my parents have been without power since Friday.  Luckily my brother got them a generator a couple of years ago so they at least have some power for the refrigerator and freezer and can turn on the TV but no air conditioner.  My dad is so surprised it has been off this long.  They have never been without power this long before.  They don't live in the country but in a subdivision but there is no word on when this will be fixed.  My sister and brother in law live a mile from my parents and they too are without power.  They went out yesterday and got a generator as well.  Luckily today is a little cooler out.  Yesterday was warm over there.  My dad was mentioning that the neighbors have been out of town so probably by the time they get back they are going to lose everything in their refrigerator and freezer.  Wouldn't you just love coming home to that mess.

Well on to our weekend.  Since yesterday was such a nice day we drove up to Williams Bay/Lake Geneva Wisconsin.  My husband has been wanting to go to the observatory for several years now.   They have the worlds largest refracting telescope.  And then we thought we would have a picnic by the lake so I tested out the new thermal tote.  It works great.

Here are a few pictures of the hubs and Kyle on his first father's day weekend.  This was Kyles first big outing and first picnic.  He was loving it.

Some pictures of beautiful Lake Geneva.

Thursday night summer favorites

Have any of you seen USA Networks Burn notice or Royal Pains.  Loving them.  They are my summer favorites.  Burn Notice staring the cutie Jeffrey Donovan (pic below) takes place in Miami and Royal Pains in the Hamptons. If you haven't seen them check them out.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Happy Birthday!

I want to wish my dad a big Happy Birthday. He is turning 87 today. I couldn't ask for a better father. He is such a great role model.  He is getting a great birthday wish today and that is going home from the hospital after a successful surgery to be with his bride (my mom) of 60 years.  Happy Birthday dad!! Love ya.

Update!

Thank heavens my dad's surgery went well.  He is doing great and is ready to bust out of the hospital but they have to keep him overnight.  I am so thankful.  He is very happy because after just a couple of days for healing he can go back to his normal activities except lifting anything heavy.  My dad might be 87 (tomorrow actually) but you can't hold him down.  He is VERY active and can not stand being laid up.  He is super happy to be able to go back to riding his lawn mower too. Oh if you all knew my dad growing up no one was ever allowed to mow the lawn but him.  He is such a perfectionist.  People used to drive by our house and stop and ask who does our landscaping.   We would always say dad does it himself.  Kinda crazy but to this day I have never mowed the lawn.  And here at our house my husband is not the lawn guy my dad is so we have a service that does our yard.  Keeping so active is what has kept my dad so healthy and young.  I hope to do the same as well.

Also my new thermal totes arrived today.  So adorable!!!  Loving them.  Even the hubs liked them and thought the space saving when they are not being used will be wonderful.

2 month appointment

Our little guy had his 2 month appointment yesterday. His official two months is next week but the doctor is completely booked up next week so we got in this week. He is now 12 pounds 4 ounces and is 24 inches long. He is doing great and getting big. He also had to have his first shots yesterday. I am sure all you mom's out there can relate but it broke my heart to see him cry like that. He was perfectly happy then the nurse and doctor both gave Kyle shots in his legs at the same time. Oh my baby. I got tears in my eyes. I told my husband he may have to take him by himself next time because I don't think momma can handle this :-)

Oh by the way could you send some prayers to my dad.  He is having his pacemaker put in this morning.  I hope all goes well. My brother and sister will be at the hospital with my mom.  I am waiting to hear from my brother now.
Have a great day! 86 and sunny here today.  No rain!!

Lands' End Sale

Hope you all had a great weekend. We were able to get a few things done around the house this weekend since the weather was kind of raining off and on. I forgot to post yesterday but it was our 6th wedding anniversary. We've been together 10 years and married 6. Boy has that flown by. I guess times flies when your having fun. We didn't have any special plans this year. Kyle's doctor doesn't want him out in public (stores, restaurants etc.) until after his 2 month appointment so we just spent the time at home. Got a few things on sale at Lands' End though. T-shirts were just $9.99, these cute umbrellas I really like. They were $14.99. The plaid one is for my husbands car and of course the sailboat one is for my car. And finally I ordered these cute stockings and had them monogrammed for Kyle. $5.99 people and monogramming was FREE. They are much bigger than I thought when I ordered them. Kyle is going to make out like a bandit when santa fills these :-) They are so cute in person I am so glad I ordered both.  Have a great week.
