Mackinac Island Part One

We're back and had a blast on our little 4th of July trip away. The weather the first day was overcast and cool but improved later in the day and was wonderful the rest of the weekend. I took a ton of pictures so I think I will do this in parts so not to overwhelm you all.

Our first day we arrived to Mackinaw City. My husband had never been across the Mackinac Bridge so he wanted to do that. The Mackinac Bridge is one of the largest suspension bridges in America. It is just shy of 5 miles across and connects the upper and lower peninsulas of Michigan. Across the bridge in the upper peninsula is a little town called St. Ignace. We had lunch there and stopped in a couple of the shops and then headed back across the bridge to Mackinaw City to get our ferry and park our car for the weekend.

There are 3 different ferry companies that go to the island we took Star line.

A picture of main street as we got off the ferry. One thing that is nice about the ferry is that they tag your bags and once you get to the island the ferry companies take your bags to whatever hotel you are staying at for you.

We were very lucky our hotel (The Lake View Hotel) was right across the street from the Star line ferry.

Here is hubs in front of the hotel. The Lake View Hotel is one of the oldest continuously run hotels on the island.

They had a towel in the shape of a sailboat on the bed. Super cute. Loved it!

They even had made a sailboat out of the washcloth in the bathroom room.

The hotel was perfect. Right in town on the main strip and close to everything. Here are some shots of town from the second floor balcony.
